Mudbox it is then!!

I have decided that after even a short time with Mudbox that it is much more intuative and fun to use than Zbrush for a few reasons;

  • the interface is much simpler (no clutter) and well laid out.
  • the controls are just like Maya making my work flow far simpler and more intuitive.
  • the system for doing Displacement maps is far simpler, no need for time consuming menu use.
  • the results are far more interesting and fun to create














This is a hand that I added detail to in Zbrush from my base mesh, this took roughly an hour to get to this point. I found it to be hard work and very time consuming with more options available to me than I need!!















This is the one I did in Mudbox, as you can see the results are far superior and it took me far less time, I would say easily more than half the time. This will be crucial in my final part of the year when a more precise and quick work flow will be need to achieve the high standards that is required.

So my conclusion is that I will be sticking with Mudbox from now on, it's more intuitive and fun, I admit that I still have a long way to go and will be posting more on my progress with this package throughout the year.
